MoI and Ras Laffan COP Launches "Bedar 3" Initiative

Doha, February 19, 2024: In collaboration with the Ministry of Interior, the Ras Laffan Community Outreach Program (Ras Laffan COP) recently launched the third edition of the "Bedar" community outreach initiative at Barwa Workers Recreation Complex in Al Khor with various programs.

The activities of the launching ceremony included sports championship in football, basketball, volleyball, tug of war and pushups among the workers of 13 companies, who are participating in "Bedar3" initiative, awareness presentations by 6 departments of the Ministry of Interior such as Cyber Crimes Dept. on ways to prevent cybercrimes among workers, Criminal Investigation Dept. on methods of crime prevention, Civil Defense on fire prevention methods, Community Policing Dept. on Qatari custom and traditions, Drugs Prevention Dept. on drug prevention and related laws and Human Rights department on the services rendered to the community.

The investiture ceremony of "Bedar" ambassadors from 13 companies, which are participating in "Bedar3" initiative and launching of an E-awareness campaign targeting the workers of the companies working in the northern area of Qatar through social media platforms, aimed at enhancing awareness on security, safety, social culture, physical fitness and health and hygiene were other attractions of the event.

On this occasion, Sheikha Al Anoud Al-Thani, Head of the Media Studies Section at the Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Interior, emphasized the importance of the "Bedar3" initiative, which comes in line with the Ministry's strategic directions aimed at raising awareness among all residents in Qatar about the means of security and safety by promoting healthy communication between resident workers and the community.

Sheikha Al Anoud Al-Thani noted that this initiative adds to the Ministry's record of qualitative and distinguished initiatives throughout the year and the Ministry of Interior is keen in spreading awareness and security culture among various segments of the local community, including workers and in educating them about security concepts, especially those related to their professional safety at work sites, to reduce the risk of injuries that could endanger their lives, Sheikha Al Anood Al Thani added.

On her part, Sheikha Dana Al-Thani, the senior official of the Ras Laffan COP, highlighted the Program's continuous support for sports and community activities in line with the Vision 2030, which primarily focuses on sports and its contribution to human development. It aims to enhance the country's status as a regional sports hub. From this perspective, we are keen to encourage sports practice, raise awareness of the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle, and support the pillars of human development, Sheikha Dana added.

Sheikha Dana also highlighted the longstanding partnership with the Ministry of Interior, which has strengthened the success and widespread dissemination of its initiatives locally over the years. She called on all local entities and institutions to follow the approach of Ras Laffan COP and bridge communication channels to support institutional work and improve its outcomes, aligning with Qatar National Vision 2030, aimed at activating national work and enhancing its capabilities.

On his part, Saad Al-Humaidi, the community outreach officer of the Ras Laffan COP, explained that the diverse events organized as part of "Bedar3" reflect its significant interest in social responsibility and over the years, the program has been known for its excellence in presenting and launching initiatives, mobilizing all energies and efforts to implement them on a wide scale, which aims to make workers partners in success in all national and community occasions to enhance awareness of Qatari culture, security and safety requirements, health and hygiene guidelines, physical fitness, and the importance of making it a lifestyle.

Approximately 1,300 workers from 12 companies operating in the north side of the country participated in the sports competitions and tournaments. At the end of the event, the organizers honored the winning teams and distributed prizes and medals to the companies that secured top positions such as Gulfar Al Misnad, Black Cat, Seashore Group, EMCO Qatar and Al Jaber Engineering.

The "Bedar" initiative aims to raise awareness among workers about the importance of guidance in the fields of security and safety, as well as reinforcing their social values and principles. It seeks to familiarize them with Qatari custom, traditions, and culture, considering them integral parts of the local community. The initiative also aims to equip them with skills to deal with emergencies and accidents, develop their sense of security to protect their lives and properties, and prevent them from falling victim to crimes of all kinds.

Furthermore, it aims to enhance their awareness of areas related to health culture and personal care, and engage them in community development while preserving their properties through training programs and workshops that enhance their awareness and security sense.

The initiative serves as a link between the departments of the Ministry of Interior responsible for awareness and education and the employees in companies. Trainers are developed in their skills, experiences, and qualifications to become training and awareness ambassadors in their companies and residential complexes.
