In collaboration with the Ministry of Interior (MoI), the Ras Laffan Community Outreach Programme organized a Mental Health awareness event as part of the “Bedar” initiative, aimed for community engagement with workers.
Held at Al Khor Sport Club, the event welcomed over 900 workers from 14 local companies operating in northern areas of Qatar. The activities aimed to raise awareness about mental health guidelines and highlight the impact of mental health on workers’ well-being and productivity.
The event featured a series of informative and engaging sessions, including “Mental Health in Daily Life,” “Mental Health Exercises,” and “Health Tips for Workers.” Additionally, the Drugs Enforcement Directorate of the MoI presented “Drugs and Mental Health,” and the Traffic Department discussed “Mental Health and Road Users.” Attendees also participated in interactive competitions, talent activities, and mental health exercises designed to enhance overall well-being.
Sheikha Al Anoud Al Thani, Head of the Media Studies Section at the Public Relations Department of the MoI, emphasized the importance of these events, aligning with the Ministry’s strategic goals to enhance communication between workers and society and raise mental health awareness. “We believe that mental health is a crucial aspect of overall well-being, and this event will provide valuable insights and support to our community,” she stated.
Sheikha Dana Al Thani, Head of the Ras Laffan Community Outreach Programme, highlighted the significance of World Mental Health Day and the importance of initiatives that promote mental well-being among workers. She praised the BEDAR initiative as a vital platform for addressing mental health awareness, especially within the labor community. “By participating in BEDAR, we can support and empower workers to prioritize their mental health, ensuring they have the resources and support needed for a healthy and productive work environment,” she said. “Mental health is a vital aspect of overall community well-being, and through initiatives like BEDAR, we aim to make a positive and lasting presence and legacy.”
This event is part of the Bedar Initiative’s ongoing commitment to community outreach, focusing on enhancing awareness of health, security, safety, and Qatari cultural guidelines among workers.
The Bedar initiative, launched in 2019 in partnership with the MoI and other governmental and industry entities, is one of the key initiatives of the Ras Laffan Community Outreach Programme. The Ras Laffan Community Outreach Programme, established in 2009, is an energy sector-led initiative that promotes two-way engagement with the community, fostering collective innovation and decision-making. It supports sustainability initiatives benefiting the local community in the Al Khor and the northern regions in Qatar. The program is a joint effort by six leading energy companies operating in Ras Laffan Industrial City: QatarEnergy, QatarEnergy LNG, Dolphin Energy, Oryx GTL, Al Khaleej Gas, and Pearl GTL.
